The 88 Buddhas are the 53 Buddhas and 35 Buddhas mentioned  in two sutras: 

1, The Buddha Speaks of the Sutra of Visualization of the Two Bodhisattvas, the King of Medicine and the Superior Physician

2,The Buddha Speaks of Decisive Vinaya Sutra


The 88 Buddhas Great Repentance Ceremony includes paying respect to the 88 Buddhas, repenting all past karmic obstacles, making vows, and transferring merits to all sentient beings.
