Welcome to Chan Practice: A Path to Wisdom and Compassion
Based on the Dharma Drum Mountain Toronto Centre’s 2026 program, this guide introduces the Pyramid of Learning Meditation, a structured and beginner-friendly approach that helps lay a solid foundation for cultivating a calm and peaceful mind.

Serve Others: Chan Practice goes beyond personal benefit - it empowers us to bring clarity, stability, and compassion into daily life to support and uplift others.
Your Learning Kits: The 2026 Progressive Path
The Centre offers two "Packages" or learning kits for 2026. These are designed as a progressive path, guiding you from foundational concepts to more advanced practice. You begin with the basics and gradually deepen your understanding and experience.
The Three Day Retreat led by Ven. Guo Yuan, abbot, Dharma Drum Retreat Center
Completion of: One Beginners Workshop + One 1-Day Retreat, you will receive a 20% discount of attending the 3-Day Retreat at the Five Oak Retreat Centre.
In addition, to enhance your practice experience, it’s free to attend the group meditation sessions every Wednesday evening and Sunday morning in the McNicoll location. And, the Friday evening UofT Students sitting Group at Multi-faith centre.
