About the Event
Compassion takes practice. Starting with a smile, your speech and behaviour will gradually change, and over time, this will transform into a joyful and gentle heart. This is also a practice on the contemplation of compassion.
The workshop will start in the morning with a discourse by Venerable Guo Huei, followed by the Refuges Taking Ceremony, and Q&A.
In the afternoon, there will be sound meditation, sitting meditation, and Q&A.
Light vegetarian lunch will be provided.

About the abbot-president:
Venerable Guo Huei (果暉), as one of the first Chan disciples guided by Master Sheng Yen, the founder of Dharma Drum Mountain, and a founding member of Dharma Drum Mountain’s monastic community, Venerable Guo Huei deeply realized that everything Master Sheng Yen established at Dharma Drum Mountain - both in philosophy and physical infrastructure - was wholly dedicated to serving society through the compassionate practice of selfless devotion. From this, he came to understand that Buddhist practice must cultivate both gratitude and compassion: gratitude dissolves the self-centeredness, while compassion brings benefit to others.
This event is free of charge, but registration is required for the purpose of seat arrangement and food preparation.
