About the Event

The Guan Yin ( Avalokitesvara Boddhisatva ) ceremony is a chanting event in Chinese. Ping Yin liturgy will be available for English speakers to follow.

There will be a refuge and precept ceremony conducted in English by Ven. Chang Wu after the Guan Yin ceremony. Please click for further details and submit the signed application form to BuddhaSvc@ddmbaontario.org ahead of time if you are taking the three refuges and five precepts the first time.  A Refuge Certificate with your dharma name will be given to the new takers after the ceremony.

Taking refuges in the Three Jewels of the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha strenghthens one's committements in learning the Buddha way.  Taking the five precepts of no killing, no stealing, no sexual misconduct, no lying, and no using alcohol or drugs protects oneself from afflications.

For those who have taken the three refuges and five precepts before, there is no need to submit registration forms yet are concouraged to join the ceremony again.  By participating in the Guan Yin and Refuge/Precepts ceremony, we strenghthen our Buddhist learnings and support the new refuge takers the same time.

Masking is highly recommended during the event to minimize the risks of COVID spread.
